The tall woman waved a hand over the surface of the water in the fountain, and the images faded obediently. She pondered what she had seen so far – the violent storms that had been plaguing Saturn. Other than the fact that these storms inhibited the repair of the gravity shields, Saturn had always enjoyed calm weather and very rarely a spring shower. These storms were indicators that something in the Local Neighbourhood was amiss. Frowning thoughtfully, the woman caught hold of her staff and passed it over the water.
"Show me the future," she whispered. The surface of the water rippled, and the portion of water she had warded off turned black, with dust and gas streams whirling around an unseen center. The woman wiped her forehead and smoothed her dark green hair anxiously as she expanded the image. No familiar planets or even stars. The Local Neighbourhood had simply ceased to exist.
